Forthcoming Fund Raising Activities
- Thursday 4th December 2008 - Charity Christmas Lunch at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff - tickets £25 for hot buffet lunch and glass of wine. Table bookings available seating ten around round tables.
Throughout the summer months, attendance at fetes with our teddy bear stall.
Youth activities - following on from past success in forming a young lions Leo Club we intend to organise a school competition to design a poster promoting world peace.
Past Fund Raising Activities
29th Annual Charity Lunch raised over £2000
Lions Annual Charity Lunch at the Angel Hotel on 2nd December 2004. Over 160 attended and £2300 was raised for the Christmas Parcels for the Elderly and Needy.
An auction of a dinner for two at the Copthorne Hotel, several autographed books by their authors, including one by Jeffery Archer, and a dressed turkey, contributed to the total raised.
Cardiff Lions Club would like to thank all those who attended the lunch and to give early notice that the 2007 Annual Charity lunch will be held on Thursday 6th December .
Cardiff Lions in partnership with Dan-y-Bryn Cheshire Home
Cardiff Lions are still in a partnership with Dan-y-Bryn Cheshire Home in Radyr. The Lions visit the home once a week initially and help with outside visits that the patients wish to make, such as shopping, pub lunches and seaside visits. They will of course carry out other tasks that may be required on the day, but more importantly, provide companionship for the patients, particularly those bedridden.
Cardiff Lions are regular presenters with Hospital Radio Glamorgan
Lion Len Smith is still presenting with Hospital Radio Glamorgan, based at Heath Hospital. Once a week Lion Len presents his program to the patients of the hospital. Conveying the messages of well wishers to their loved ones and friends, as well as playing favourite tunes of patients and visitors, Lion Len spreads joy and comfort to the hospital community.
